American Furniture

Early American furniture is not broadly collected in Dallas, but 19th century American furniture is very popular and is well-represented in museums and private collections in Dallas.

Mr. Bowman was privileged to restore the famous Rosedown bed for the Dallas Museum of Art. [Click to view a report] This is considered the most important example of American gothic furniture produced in mid 19th century by Crawford Riddell from Philadelphia.

Another gothic rosewood bed and a number of other important pieces of furniture have emerged in Dallas have been restored at Alton Bowman Studio and are pictured here.
